CELEBRANT SUNSHINE COAST

Some days call for a little extra flexibility ! In all the years I’ve been a marriage celebrant here on the Sunshine Coast, there’s one very important thing I’ve learned. You have to be flexible! Much as you can plan things down to the last rose petal, you simply can’t plan what Mother Nature will do. This is why I have chosen to only do one wedding each day. One October day called for a little added flexibility. We were on wet weather watch as a summer storm was forecast. My couple, Tom and Kelly were originally from England, so the potential of a little rain didn’t faze them at all. However, they did want their ceremony outside. As they were living in Brisbane, most of the planning was done via email. Their brief was for a relaxed, simple and short ceremony and they were thrilled at the freedom we have here in Australia and they loved the Sunshine Coast, and the loved the flexibility to have your ceremony anywhere you want at any time you choose with a celebrant of their choosing ! As a Sunshine Coast celebrant, I’m used to travelling the length and breadth of our magnificent coastline - from Caloundra to Noosa and up into the Hinterland. There is an awesome vibe about a Noosa wedding that makes my heart sing ! Tom and Kelly had the right idea, as they hired a couple of lovely units in Noosaville on the North end of the Coast, with their group checking in the day before… and they all stayed the night of the wedding as well! So lots of time with family and friends, isn't that what a wedding should be ! The wedding day arrived and as we watched the weather reports, it became clear the storm was going to hit right when the ceremony was due to start. Luckily it was a very small, intimate wedding and with having all the guests already there including the bridal party. We decided to bring the wedding forward by 45 minutes. Now that’s one big benefit of having your own personal celebrant, and one who only does one wedding a day… and is flexible! We made it, with time for some quick photos and Tom and Kelly and their happy group got away on the ferry to Noosa for their reception just before the storm hit, they just made it inside when it hit. We are so fortunate with our Sunshine Coast weddings to have the choice and flexibility of so many options – with stunning locations both indoors and out. Tom and Kelly were wise to have a backup wet weather plan of being inside the unit, however by turning up early, it gave me that flexibility to shift the time of the wedding rather than the whole venue.
